Tobias T. Hocking was born in England in August 5, 1872. His parents and his wife Susan and her parents were also

born in England. Their son, Tobias S.Hocking  was listed in the 1900 census as being born in England also.

Tobias T. was a miner, probably working in the Hocking Mine, located around Amador City. The 1910 census

shows him living in Jackson, still with his wife and son. The 1920 census shows him living alone, still in Jackson. His

wife Susan had died in 1918, in Jackson,  in the Spanish flu epidemic.The 1930 census shows him  working in San

Francisco at the Mitchel Ravine Hetch Hetchy water service tunnel and living in Murray Township, Alameda County,

Cal. The census was taken at his workplace. 

 

He died Nov. 7, 1946 in Calaveras County, Ca.
